Yamaha reports 33pc growth in Nov 2012

Two wheeler manufacturer, India Yamaha Motor Saturday declared a growth of 33 percent in domestic sales during November 2012 as compared to the corresponding period last year.

The company continues to maintain an upward trend in sales on the back of its superb product line-up, new launch in the scooter segment and innovative customer centric activities, informed officials.

The company sold 37,347 units in Nov 2012 as against 28,178 units sold in November last year in the domestic markets.

In the export markets the company sold 7,344 units in November 2012 as compared to 10,984 units in the same month last year.

The overall sales stood at 44,691 units in November 2012 while 39,162 units were sold in November 2011, thereby registering 14 percent overall growth.

Speaking on the results, National Business Head, India Yamaha Motor, Roy Kurian said, "We are very pleased with the sales growth that we've witnessed in the past month on account of our strong product portfolio, upbeat customer confidence and new launch in the scooter segment with RAY."

"Our efforts towards enhancing our relationship with our esteemed customers through various initiatives like the Yamaha Safe Riding Science Programs, R15 One Make Race Championships etc., have also been very rewarding."

Kurian asserted, "We recently introduced a unique marketing initiative called RAY cavalcade which reached the RAY customers in a more targeted manner. The festive season did play a role in changing the market sentiment however due to the current economic conditions and rise in inflation, the festival season has been weak compared to last year."

The company is also planning to introduce the Yamaha Female Riding Training programme very soon meant exclusively for women.

It has already expanded its dealer network and improved customer care quality for female customers by appointing more female staffs at customer contact points and introducing female customer care programs, India Yamaha Motor informed.

Currently, India Yamaha Motor has more than 400 dealers across India and plans to spread out to more cities increasing its dealer network to 2000 by 2014.

Looking at the growing demand of two wheelers in the tier 2 and tier 3 cities, Yamaha embarked on building a strong dealership network in these cities. The company is also working on its secondary network to be realigned to reach more and more customers in rural areas.

Maruti Suzuki ends November with 12.5 percent growth

Car maker Maruti Suzuki India Ltd Saturday said it closed November with 12.5 percent growth in volume as compared to the number logged in November 2011.

The company said it sold 103,200 units (domestic 90,882 units, exports 12,318) last month as compared to 91,772 units (domestic 82,870, exports 8,902) in November last year.

The company saw increased volumes in its compact (Swift, Estilo, Ritz), super compact (DZire) and utility vehicles (Gypsy, Grand Vitara, Ertiga) portfolio while it was negative growth in all other segments - mini (M800, Alto, A-Star, WagonR), mid size (SX4), executive (Kizashi) and van (Omni, Eeco).

The company's cumulative sales for the period April-November 2012 stands at 732,580 units (domestic 660,102, exports 72,478) as against 681,200 units (domestic 607,417, exports 73,783) logged in the comparable period last year.

Hyundai maintains sales growth

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), the country's second largest car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter accounted the domestic sales of 34,751 units (35,000 units) and Exports of 21,011 units (22,071 units).

The aggregate sales stood at 55,762 units (57,071units).

Commenting on the November sales, Rakesh Srivastava, Vice President- Marketing and Sales, HMIL, said, "The adverse market conditions due to high interest rates and inflation continued to pose challenges for growth. Increased diesel fuel price temporarily affected the strong momentum of diesel car sales.

"However, the festival season stimulated sales of petrol cars. Eon demand continues to grow month on month leading to supply challenges."

The segment- wise cumulative sales for November 2012 are: A2 segment 48,650 Units (Eon, Santro, i10, i20); A3 Segment 6,526 units (Accent and Verna); A4 Segment 513 units (Elantra); A5 segment 20 units (Sonata); SUV 53 units (Santa Fe).

Audi reports 89pc sales growth

Audi, the German luxury car manufacturer, displayed a strong performance in November by crossing its sales target of 8000 cars for 2012.

The luxury carmaker registered a total sale of 805 units in November 2012, a strong growth of 89 percent over the same period last year (November 2011: 425 units).

The brand with the four rings recorded a 58 percent growth rate YTD with 8072 vehicles sold from January to November 2012. (January-November 2011: 5117 units).

?We had set a goal of 8000 cars sold by the end of this year. But we have achieved our target even before the year ended and have revised our sales target to minimum 8600 cars even as the industry faces flat growth," said Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.

"We are constantly enhancing our product line, network growth and creating wider brand awareness; this is creating larger customer base and is reflecting clearly in our sales, every month. Besides, our top-down strategy for India (A8L, A7, A6, A4 / Q7, Q5, Q3) has worked very well for us.

"In a demanding economic environment to achieve targets even before the year ends clearly testifies the strength of the brand Audi and the affinity and aspiration it carries within its enthusiasts and customers," said Perschke.

"By 2015, we aim to be the No. 1 luxury car brand in India, and based on our current performance we are well on track to achieve that objective," he said.

Globally, Audi started the fourth quarter of the year with another double-digit increase in sales with significant contribution from the SUV models Q3, Q5 and Q7, together with the A5 model family.

Worldwide sales in October were up 13.9 percent year on year, to around 123,600 automobiles.

This means some 1,221,150 customers have already purchased a new Audi since January, a rise of 12.9 percent compared with 2011.
